LIST OF KPOP IDOLS WITH MENTAL ILLNESS AND DISORDERS PT2

KPOP IDOLS WITH MENTAL ILLNESS AND DISORDERS

Suzy (Miss A)

miss A‘s Suzy recently shared her struggles and hardships as a young star.
On July 29, Suzy was a guest on “Healing Camp” where she talked about why she burst into tears during the “Gu Family Book” press conference not too long ago. She said, “I suddenly started crying. It was because of several things.”
She continued, “I always try to think positively. I feel more comfortable if I’m at a disadvantage and I don’t like to butt heads with people. I could bear the physical exhaustion but I couldn’t express the scars I received from people. Everything started to build up and when I kept thinking that I should hold it in, it just exploded.

“There were a lot of instances where I was looked down upon because I am young. People tell me ‘you don’t know because you’re too young’ but on the other hand, they expect me to act like an adult. These kinds of contradictions really made me mad,” she explained.
Suzy continued, “Even though my schedule was so full that I couldn’t rest, it wasn’t hard. Being exhausted from being busy just means that many people want to see me, which makes me happy. But I want to have time to learn and do one thing well but since I’m so busy, there’s a lot of times when I just have to do it.”
Lastly, Suzy added, “In the end, I had signs of depression. I wondered if I could continue to live like this and if I could endure through all of this tomorrow once again. Once, I was just laughing and talking with my friend and I suddenly started to cry.”

op: my depression is very much like suzy, i've held everything in which is why there will be instances that your emotions just wants to get out. I've also experience laughing and crying all of a sudden and it's just that the feelings that i have are overwhelming me.

 Henry (SJ-M)

On MBC’s program “Real Men,” Henry revealed his past history with the disorder. Since first appearing on the show, he has been called out for his chaotic and overly playful personality and behavior on multiple occasions. Recently, Henry was seen continuously chattering and playing around even during meal times at a unit he had just entered. When a few of the senior officers reprimanded his behavior, the Super Junior-M member ended up sharing, “I had ADHD until middle school,” giving a bit of insight into the reason for his erratic and unpredictable nature.

TAEYEON (SNSD)
On the latest 'Radio Star', Taeyeon revealed that she got rid of stress by getting piercings. She said, "I used to get ear piercings, but I took them all out. I did both ears, and I had 6 piercings. [I got them] when I was a trainee. I get stressed from work, but I feel more tortured when we have no work and rest. I think I like it better when we're so busy we can't think."

During a segment in which each member pointed out something another member could improve on, Sunny commented, "I wish Taeyeon would stop [getting wrapped up in her] depression. I'd like it if you would stop listening to sad music and putting yourself in a corner when you already don't feel good. When you're feeling down, come to me. I'll make you [a soju-beef cocktail], and I'll sing happy songs for you and do cute things."

Taeyeon appeared on KBS ‘Park Junghoon Show’ on the 8th and stated that “Being a singer is a lonely career”.
“We prepared for years putting all our effort into it, but the actual performance is over in just a few minutes” was Taeyeon’s reason.

She continued by saying, “I have these empty feelings when I get off of the stage” and “These feelings alone just makes a person feel lonely”.
Also, “I’ve had regrets when I think about some past performances because we cannot redo them” and “Sometimes during preparation, we really feel that being a singer is such a lonely job”.

Regarding this issue, Lee Joon stated that he felt regretful, but he had a reason.

He clarified, "I had no time to rest during that period. I knew that I had to study, but I couldn't. I have a severe bipolar disorder, and people only saw what was broadcasted on TV. They don't see the effort behind the screen, such as the late-night rehearsals. No matter how hard I tried, my body just couldn't keep up with me, so it was very upsetting." Despite the physical and mental stress, Lee Joon continues to work hard in improving himself and achieving satisfaction in his work. ".

"I've suffered from insomnia before my debut. It was fixed for a bit due to the fatigue after our debut, but it has come back recently. I haven't slept for two days today and went for my script reading. It's fun, so it's all right. I don't think I'll be appearing on variety programs as often. I'll be working hard on my drama and making sure our new album is of high quality."
